Problems of the Russian pension system

Abstract

The paper presents an overview of the Russian pension reform in 2002, its objectives and current results. Particular attention is paid to the funded systems in the compulsory and voluntary pension insurance. It is shown that private pension insurance has stagnated in recent years. We discuss briefly the Government's proposals for further reform of compulsory pension insurance.
